Essential Silver Smithing Six Week Course

Description

The essential silver smithing course is an opportunity for you to try your hand at making your own jewellery using traditional silver smithing techniques. It is a six week beginners course and will focus on skills and techniques that can be applied to your own designs. You will start with the basics and then create five of your own pieces of jewellery.

All tools and equipment are provided. This will include silver sheet, wire, solder and chains.

Week 1 – You will be guided through the basics of silver smithing. This includes piercing, filing, texturing, forming, soldering and polishing. Copper sheet and wire will be provided for you to practice with.

Week 2 – You will make a stamped necklace in sterling silver using a disc cutter. An initial or character can be chosen for the design.

Week 3 – You will make 2 stacking rings. Option of texture or plain is included.

Week 4 – You will make a silver bangle. Option of hand stamping or texturing is included.

Week 5 – You will make a pair of earrings of your choice out of silver.

Week 6 – You will make a spinner ring with one ring added to spin. Option of plain or textured is included.

The course is on Saturdays for 6 weeks from 11am till 4pm, starting 3rd October.

It is available for up to four people.

Payment to be made before arrival. This can be done online or via my studio in Edwinstowe.
